Cranleigh Carpet Warehouse supplied and fitted this made-to-measure stair runner in a home in Cranleigh, Surrey. The warm golden-toned weave and black border leave the white-painted stairs visible on either side.
The runner the customer chose is a natural weave in a warm golden tone, edged with a bold black border. Against the white treads and risers, the contrast does the talking: the runner reads as a deliberate design feature, not an afterthought.
Because the staircase turns at the top and opens out at the foot, the runner was shaped and cut to follow every change of direction — including the landing piece at the bottom, where it meets the herringbone wood flooring.

The runner runs the length of the flight, wrapping over every nosing, and is shaped to follow the staircase as it turns at the top.
The foot of the stairs
Shaped to the landing, down to the wood floor.
At the foot of the flight the runner opens out across the landing and is cut to fit the corner precisely, finishing neatly where it meets the herringbone wood flooring below. It is the kind of measured, made-to-shape work a cut-to-length runner off the roll can't give you.
